Mushroom, moss, and ferns: Oregon trifecta.

Survived my one-night backpacking trip. Hiking was fine (38 miles), camping less so. I think I may have aged out of sleeping in the woods.

I believe these are pulmonaria flowers (which sounds so much nicer than lungwort!). Spotted in the Rhododendron Garden at Hendricks Park.

Petulant man-baby threatens to blow up power plants starting with the biggest one first.

NYT pointed out that the biggest Iranian power plant is in fact a nuclear power plant.

I look forward to the war crimes trials.

“Summer Snowflakes”

Lots of pretty flowers out at the Hendricks Park Rhododendron Garden today, despite it being early in the season.

Pack weight for an overnight is coming in at 33 pounds. That’s heavier than I’d like. Some of the extra weight comes from the fact that it’ll probably be slightly below freezing where I plan to camp. Some is “packing my fears”: people tell me I don’t really need a bear can in the Central Cascades. But dammit I’ve seen bears there and I don’t really want to see them any closer. Anyhow, hopefully I can still do 40-50 miles across two days.

Best thing about getting flamed for no reason on Reddit: that’s one more account I can block, and thus make my reading experience quicker & more pleasant.

Second best thing: I’ve finally learned to just not respond to the jerks.

There’s something utterly ironic about the Washington Post running a long article about the continued decline of CBS News.
